'Dust, Drought, and Dreams Gone Dry' Oral History Collection

Scope and Contents Collection contains 49 interviews and supporting documentation and photographs from approximately 150 women and small number of men who lived through the Dust Bowl era in Oklahoma as adults or young adults. Project narrators came from 10 Oklahoma counties although the majority were from Cimarron, Texas, Beaver, Harper, Ellis, Dewey, and Woodward counties. Interviews focused on home life, domestic duties, family relationships and the lasting personal and collective impact of the Dust Bowl era.

Includes handwritten short stories, typed short stories, photographs, biography of Forrest Turner Clark, death and marriage certificates of Forrest Turner Clark, spiral bound geneological research study by Everett Ranklin Clark. Also includes photographs and an audio interview with Forrest Turner Clark.

Scope and Content Collection contains transcripts, sound recordings, video recordings, photographs, memorabilia and various project related documentation from interviews.

All interviews have been transcribed and edited. Master copies of transcripts, audiocassettes, video recordings, and born digital audio recordings, are housed separately (Series VII). Edited transcripts, audio, and video are available to view/use within Special Collections and University Archives.
